About Us

Mission Statement
Fishin’ for a Cure is dedicated to bringing hope and support to those in need through community-driven fishing events and fundraising to make a difference for individuals battling breast cancer through fishing, fun, and fellowship.

Where We Are
Fishin’ for a Cure is a 501c3 charitable organization that began in Eastern North Carolina and now has a statewide reach. We were founded in Emerald Isle, NC. Our events are held in various locations in North Carolina, including Greensboro, Wilson, Dobson, Archdale, Mount Airy, Cape Carteret, Morehead City and Emerald Isle.

Achievements and Impact
In 12 years, Fishin' for a Cure has raised over 1.4 million dollars directly benefiting breast cancer patients, caregivers, and their families.

Fishin' for a Cure 2025
We look forward to the fellowship, fun, and festivities, but Fishin' For A Cure is most excited about making a difference! We hope you join us for this incredible weekend starting October 18. Saturday is "Pink Tides and Island Vibes, a block party including cornhole for a cause, a $10,000 draw down, music and food. Sunday is the Pokerfish tournament followed by a dinner to celebrate our sponsors and volunteers. The weekend ends with our "Go Pink on the Green" golf tournament at Star Hill Golf Club.

Pink Tides and Island Vibes
Pink Tides and Island Vibes is our opening night of a weekend of fun, fellowship and fundraising. Join us at Thirsty Surfer beginning at 6pm for food, $10,000 reverse raffle drawing, a silent auction, and live music.
For those who want to play in our Cornhole for a Cause tournament, the check-in at Thirsty Surfer starts at 10 AM. The cornhole tournament begins at 11 AM. Be sure to sign up in advance!

PokerFish
Afternoon on the beach with a pole in the ocean, including fishing tournament and fellowship. Open to all, with registration fees benefiting FFAC. Includes an event shirt. Fred Rouse from Beach Boogie & Blues Radio Network will broadcast live from Surfs Up. Make plans to spend the afternoon on the beach!

Meet Ashly Rouse, Coordinator of Development and Operations
June 27, 2025: Fishin’ for a Cure is proud to announce the hiring of its first full-time staff member, Ashly Rouse, as Coordinator of Development and Operations.
Ashly comes to FFAC with over 26 years of experience in advertising sales and marketing. She is passionate about leveraging her expertise to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer. As a new team member at Fishin' for a Cure, she is excited to bring her skills to this meaningful cause.
Ashly’s background also includes philanthropic experience where her marketing skills have helped to build two other non profits. Ashly’s giving spirit and her extensive sales and marketing experience have taught her the importance of building strong relationships and creative partnerships. She is committed to help drive progress through compassionate and hard work to help support and touch the lives of those who are affected by breast cancer.
