Anchored in Hope 2026: A Weekend of Community, Creativity, and Generosity

Stormy weather brought changes to Fishin’ for a Cure’s October 9–12 2026 weekend, but it could not dampen the community’s generosity. With $105,790 raised toward a $100,000 goal, Anchored in Hope gave supporters plenty to celebrate.
From Friday’s creative kickoff through a weekend of activities, auctions, and friendly competition, the focus remained on bringing hope and support to people affected by breast cancer.
Friday: A Creative Beginning
The weekend opened at Thirsty Surfer with a resin workshop led by local artist Sharon Churchill and her assistants. Participants enjoyed an evening of creativity and fellowship—a welcoming start to the festivities.
Saturday: Rain Could Not Stop Hope

Saturday brought some adjustments, beginning with a revised Tutus for Tatas route from the Emerald Isle Parrot Head Club. The updated plan started at Emerald Club, with a walk to Flipperz Family Bar & Grill for Tata Toddies and a return to Emerald Club for a champagne toast.
At Thirsty Surfer, supporters browsed the art fair, explored auction items in person, and enjoyed face painting. A new bra-decorating contest added color and creativity, with ticket voting supporting the cause. Awards recognized the people’s favorite, a tribute entry, and the most artistic design.
The festivities continued into Pink Pint Night, featuring live music, silent and live auctions, and the much-anticipated 50/50 drawing.
Generous donors and bidders helped the silent auction raise $5,680, while the live auction brought in $5,000. Congratulations also went to Try Sprye, whose winning 50/50 ticket earned him $13,080.
Sunday: PokerFish Comes Indoors

The weather called for a different approach to Sunday’s PokerFish event. Organizers moved the competition inside Thirsty Surfer, inviting participants to “weather the storm with us.”
The format changed to indoor PokerFish games, keeping the spirit of friendly competition alive. With hot dogs available and supporters gathering together, the event offered another opportunity for fun and fellowship despite the conditions outside.
Sunday evening’s schedule also included the Hope Appreciation Dinner at The Trading Post, honoring the sponsors and volunteers whose support makes the weekend possible.

Monday: Go Pink on the Green
Monday’s scheduled finale was Go Pink on the Green at Star Hill Golf Club, with a golf tournament, lunch, and awards rounding out the four-day program.
Thank You for Making a Difference
Anchored in Hope took flexibility, creativity, and plenty of helping hands. Thank you to the hosts, sponsors, artists, donors, volunteers, local businesses, and participants who supported the weekend and helped the fundraiser exceed its goal.
Every ticket, bid, donation, and hour of volunteer work contributed to that achievement—and to Fishin’ for a Cure’s continuing mission of supporting breast cancer patients, caregivers, and families.
